Social Pillar

What is Social Pillar?

General Meetings

Each month, PSWE hosts one to two General Meetings (GMs) to give members the opportunity to connect and stay informed. During GMs, members discuss current business, participate in interactive activities, and learn about upcoming events and ways to get involved across SWE.

Marketing & Social Media

PSWE shares its story and keeps members connected through social media, the section website, and branded merchandise. Our website platforms highlight events, celebrate member achievements, and give everyone a chance to see what SWE is up to on campus. Merchandise like shirts, hoodies, and gear lets members show off their SWE pride while supporting section activities. By keeping our messaging and visuals fun, welcoming, and consistent, PSWE builds a recognizable presence and helps members feel part of the community.

Wellness

PSWE promotes holistic well-being by supporting physical, mental, and social health. Wellness initiatives include IM sports teams, creative and recreational activities, and collaborations with campus partners, student organizations, and other SWE pillars. Through tabling events and cross-pillar programming, PSWE encourages members to prioritize their well-being while staying connected to the community.

Special Events

PSWE organizes social activities to foster an inclusive and supportive community. These events allow members to strengthen bonds, meet new people, and celebrate diverse interests and cultures.

Pastry Pause

PSWE hosts Pastry Pause (formerly Bagel Break) every Friday morning, creating a welcoming space for SWE members and engineering students to stop by for a morning treat. Sponsored Pastry Pauses are held in Dudley Hall and are open to the broader engineering community.

Fall Cookout

Each fall semester, PSWE hosts a cookout in collaboration with other student organizations. This popular event provides a fun, relaxed space to meet new people, learn more about SWE, and connect with members across campus. In previous years, the event has attracted over 200 attendees.

Homecoming Float

PSWE participates in the university’s Homecoming celebrations by designing and presenting a float, providing a fun, creative way for members to engage with the broader campus community.
